Who We Are
Timberwolves Instrumental Music Boosters (TIMB) began prior to the opening
of Northwood High School in 1999. A group of dedicated parents gathered
to ensure that arts education in the form of instrumental music performance
and instruction would thrive at NHS. Three years later, TIMB filed for
Tax-Exempt Organization Status and was granted an IRS 501c exemption. Over
the past 9 years TIMB has raised thousands of dollars to pay for supplemental
instruments, uniforms, concerts, festivals and instruction.
In 2004, the hard work of our students, teachers, administrators and volunteers
was rewarded with the designation of NHS as a Grammy Gold Award School..
recognizing NHS as one of the top seven secondary music programs in the country.
The 2004 award also resulted in an invitation for NHS instrumental music students
to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York City which was a memorable event for our
entire program. In 2006 and again in 2007, NHS was recognized by the Grammy
Foundation with the award of the Grammy Signature School Award, an unprecedented
honor for any Irvine school.
To continue the growth and development our program and our students, please
join in our efforts to support arts education for all the students at NHS.
Northwood High School was awarded the title of California Distinguished
School in 2006, and during the verification process, the parent/community
was praised as exceptional. The NHS instrumental music program is a
visible example of the excellence achieved through combined efforts and
community support.
Thank you to our NHS community for your support of NHS, our students and our
program!"
